Basic Medicine Course (Premedical Studies)

A one-year premedical (Basic Medicine) course is recommended for those not having enough knowledge in biology, physics and chemistry from high school. In addition to these subjects, courses in English, Latin and Hungarian are also included.

Medicine

Medical studies take six years (ten semesters + 1 year internship). For foreign students the language of instruction is English. However, foreign students are required to learn Hungarian in order to be able to communicate with patients from the third year on. Students who are fluent in Hungarian may join the Hungarian Program of the Medical School.

Dentistry

Dental studies take five years (10 semesters). The five year program at Debrecen has been carefully structured and designed to ensure a high standard of knowledge, skills and responsibility of dental surgeons. During the 1st year a thorough understanding of the basic medical sciences such as Biophysics, Biochemistry and Genetics is gained and in the second year the program broadens to encompass Anatomy, Histology, Physiology and Behavioral Sciences in topics which are relevant to the practice of Dentistry. Even in the first and second years, special dental subjects (Odontology, Preventive Dentistry, Dental Materials and Technics) are taught.

Pharmacy

The primary mission of the Faculty is to serve the pharmaceutical health care needs of Hungary and foreign countries by educating pharmacists to provide contemporary as well as innovative pharmacy services. We offer a dynamic curriculum, including a broad base of both didactic and experimental components, enabling the graduate to develop practical skills that will enable him or her to function effectively and efficiently in a changing and challenging health care environment all over the world. Consistent with this mission, contribution to the body of pharmaceutical knowledge through scholarly activity and service are also important goals.

BSc in Physiotherapy

The curriculum of BSc in Physiotherapy Programme is aimed to prepare students for the prevention, medication and rehabilitation of movement system disorders and other diseases using the therapeutic tools of physiotherapy.

BSc in Public Health

The aim of the BSc course in Public Health is to train specialists who are capable of identifying and evaluating public health problems, planning and implementing evidence-based interventions to solve them.

MSc in Public Health

The educational program of the Master of Public Health corresponds to the needs of public health services and health care policy institutes, and is in line with European accreditation requirements. The program provides Master in Public Health degree after a one-year training course for those having MSc or equivalent degree; the study period is two years for those having BSc degree to obtain the MPH degree. The curriculum covers all the major subfields of public health: biostatistics and epidemiology, environmental health, health promotion, health management, health policy. Writing a thesis is also part of the educational program.

MSc in Molecular Biology

The objective of the MSc course in Molecular Biology is to provide knowledge of the findings in the field of molecular biology, how to apply molecular biology techniques, to provide a broad and deep knowledge on the methodology and to train students to be able to approach scientific problems in a multidisciplinary way, as part of multidisciplinary teams.

Health Social Work MSc

The aim of the degree program is to train professionals who with the knowledge and methods gained about the fields of health and social sciences are able to tackle both health and social related problems by performing professional, social and intersectoral cooperation. Graduates will become part of preventive activities, as well as activities targeting acute problems, and after-care.

MSc in Complex Rehabilitation

The aim of the MSc in Complex Rehabilitation course is to train experts who will be able to effectively facilitate social inclusion for individuals and targeted communities / groups in health, social, educational and occupational rehabilitation after acquiring multi-disciplinary knowledge. In addition, they will be sufficiently prepared to measure, evaluate, represent and correct the results of the rehabilitation activities.
